Categories of Addiction, Compulsion or Obsession

Intensity addiction is possibly the truest of all addictions.

Why?

We enter an altered mood state immediately.

Why?

Intensity is a part of all addictions, especially addictions to activities, people and substances. Included in this category are addictions to:

crisis, chaos, crime, fear, work, rage, danger, risk, adventure, newness, aggression, gambling, spend¬ing, power, sports, heroics, religion, various eating disorders, love, prayer, sex, suffering, conflict and violence-to name just a few.

Then there are Distracting activities and these activities may or may not have overt intensity, they include: TV, video games, busy work, cleaning, hobbies, computers, volunteering, ritual, spectator sports, shopping, misering, music, reading, school, talking

Then there are the processes of how I think and interact with other people: obsessing, worrying, fantasy and destructive thought talk.

People/relationship addictions include: obsessive or destructive relationships, love addiction, over bonding with children, hanging on to abusive relationships.

Substance addiction includes: nicotine, caffeine, other mood altering drugs,

Food-Eating Disorders Include: anorexia nervosa, bulimia, over eating, obsessing and dieting. Collecting and hoard¬ing are substance addictions as well.
